Big pumpkins, new scales and plans for the year ahead

Tom and Joe have collected a large set of scales as preparations continue for the second and final pumpkin weekend described in the 20 October vlog. More £1 carrying bags have arrived, selected neighbours receive further invitations, and Tom outlines plans for the Highland herd.

A big addition for the next weekend

Based on Life of Tom’s vlog published 20 October 2026, reviewed 21 October. Preparations continue after a memorable first pumpkin weekend. Tom reports around 8,000 visitors over the weekend, an attributed estimate rather than an audited or unique-visitor total. Plenty of orange remains across the field at the time filmed.

With some particularly large pumpkins remaining at the time filmed, Tom and Joe head to Sheffield to collect a substantial set of scales. Getting them into the van takes some effort, but they make it back to the farm. The plan is to let visitors weigh their pumpkins during the next weekend; the vlog follows the collection rather than a completed visitor setup. Installation, testing and readiness are not confirmed. This does not establish pricing by weight, a competition or a body-weighing attraction.

Taking pumpkins home

A pallet of £1 carrying bags has arrived, as reported in the 20 October vlog, to help visitors take their pumpkins home and reuse the bags afterwards. Availability remains subject to stock; bags are not free or included with tickets. Custom colours and branding are a hope for next year, not a current product.

Planning ahead for the Highland herd

Tom describes all four Highland cattle together in the 20 October vlog and discusses the bull’s interest in Dorothy. Breeding is hoped for, but pregnancy remains unconfirmed: there is no confirmed calf count or arrival date. A pregnancy check is discussed for a few months later, not a verified appointment or result. Animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Improved animal housing and handling arrangements are among Tom’s planning intentions for 2027. He says the farm lacks a proper cattle crush and herding area. No approved design, budget, contractor, planning permission, installation or completion date is supplied. These plans are separate from the existing event Mega Barn and do not update its interior, power or shutter status.

Tom explicitly says in the 20 October vlog that the bull has not been named and the naming vote still needs to be arranged. No active poll, candidate list, deadline or result is confirmed. Follow the farm’s official Instagram for any later announcement; this fan site is not running a vote.

Neighbours and the next weekend

Further invitations are being delivered to selected neighbouring roads and households in the 20 October vlog, extending the earlier community gesture. These are specific complimentary invitations, not automatic free admission for every local resident or an open invitation programme.

Tom again directs visitors to Unity Mill and asks them to respect posted speed limits and keep residents’ driveways and business entrances clear. Retained earlier guidance is £3 cash with correct change and a two-hour parking maximum, separate from the 90-minute farm session. The new vlog reconfirms the car park, not its fee or maximum stay. Use official directions rather than a guessed road name from automatic captions.

The vlog published 20 October 2026 and reviewed 21 October describes Tuesday in week two and preparations for the second and final pumpkin weekend. It does not announce that the patch has already closed. Exact event dates, hours and current ticket availability must come from the farm’s official calendar and booking information.
