Opening day at The 110 Farm: pumpkins and a new Highland arrival
The pumpkin patch is underway: the first public day brings visitors, food and activities, £1 carrying bags and the reveal of a Highland bull.
After months of growing and preparation, The 110 Farm has welcomed visitors back to its pumpkin patch. Tom's latest vlog follows the first public day, from the final morning rush to the team's reflections after the visitors have left.
The event shop and photo booth are in action, food is being served and hook-a-duck has found an enthusiastic audience. Visitors are leaving with some enormous pumpkins, with £1 carrying bags helping them manage their haul. Honey is proving popular too: on opening day, the team releases seven jars per half-hour slot, with each allocation selling quickly.
There is also a new face among the Highlands. A Highland bull has joined the herd, and Tom has outlined plans for a website vote to help choose his name. The team hopes his arrival will lead to calves in the future, although no pregnancies or birth dates have been confirmed.
Rain makes an appearance during the day, so wellies and coats remain sensible essentials. The vlog includes encouraging accounts from visitors using all-terrain wheelchairs, while also showing how mud can affect the outdoor routes. Visitors with specific access needs should check current conditions with the farm team before travelling.
Tom describes the first day as a success and says the team will keep making adjustments as the event continues. A meeting with him is not guaranteed: he is also helping run the farm and keep the event moving.
